Baseball, Soccer and Other Missions

TO MEXICO WITH LOVE…A GOODWILL MISSION
MAY, 2011 - John Boriack, friend and client, just returned from a two week mission, where he and his friends visited a small remote Christian orphanage called Casa Hogar Canaan in Chiapas, Mexico. This orphanage was started by a Christian family who crossed paths with homeless children and gave them a home, their home.
Through Global Sports Foundation and your generous donations, John distributed clothing and soccer equipment. And for the first time, they now play baseball!

Friends and supporters of the first annual Midnight Madness Marathon Charity Baseball Game:
With deep sadness and regret I inform you our recipient last year, Bobby Vincent, passed away from complications from ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) Sunday morning, January 30, 2011.
I had the pleasure of meeting with Bobby and his family at their home and further communication via email and text in later months. Bobby was a great guy with a witty humor. He was extremely thankful for everything all of you had done for him through the marathon game efforts.
Check out the TV and News Coverage of the Event:
Special thanks to Joe Nickels and Lucas Hall for the video and still pix!  Also special thanks to Chris X, fellow radio show guy and Cards teammate, who helped immensely with media relations for the event!

Marathon Baseball Game Held For Local Family
By: Courtney ZavalaKPRC TV 2 POSTED: Saturday, July 31, 2010
UPDATED: 4:13 pm CDT July 31, 2010
HOUSTON -- The love of baseball brought out dozens of people to help support a local family, Local 2 reported.
A marathon baseball game started at 12:00 a.m. Saturday. In the beginning, the stands were crowded and energy was high.
"All of our friends play baseball. It's a great cause," said Gordon Boswell.
The men are playing to help Bobby Vincent, a Tomball resident who is in advanced stages of ALS, commonly known as Lou Gehrig's Disease.
The father of two children was not at the game, but close to 50 amateur league players made it a priority to play.
"All the proceeds from this event will go to Bobby and his family. This has affected his life and his family and we want to give back to him," said organizer David Fantin.
Fantin has played baseball his whole life and founded the nonprofit organization Global Sports Foundation Inc.
The two teams were Team Endurance and Team Fortitude. Both teams had an all-male roster.
Team Endurance won 40-37. The game went to 32 innings.
In all the game raised $19,000. Over $1,000 was raised through a silent auction.
ALS is progressive neurodegenerative disease that attacks nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord which affects the motor neurons and the muscles throughout the body.
